KJCS - Classic Rock?

I noticed this evening that KJCS has added some classic rock cuts to their rotation, namely Georgia Satellites, Eagles "Hotel California," and John Cougar Mellencamp's "Cherry Bomb."

Is this a new approach by KJCS to incorporate more classic rock in an effort to make their format more edgy? Are they experimenting with switching to classic Rock? or does KJCS have a rogue programming staff which is playing what they want to hear?

Sounds like Waitt Radio Network's "The Bar" format...

KJ gone satellite?

When we (Chase, CJ and I) were at those Western Louisiana stations, we used to pull some HUGE numbers across East Texas and we credited out one cut an hour (during drives) of Southern Rock (Skynard, Hatchet, et al) & Classic Rock (Eagles, Stones, etc.)

The demos cross over so well and if you "miss" that music, a little can satisfy the need... Playing 30 - 40 Southern rock hits made the station sound super-hot, in our opinion anyway!

I hope KJ hasn't gone to the bird... I have a lot of respect for Bill and how he has competed over the years... A lot of owners like him sold out and gave up the fight for the quick (& often very large) dollars. Bill kept the stations and kept programming them to the local community.

Yep... I have respect for Bill Vance.

In an age where so many owners were taking the money and running, Bill didn't. Look, we can all find things we don't like about certain owners, especially if you ever worked for them (Just ask me about Blue Bonnet Radio aka Center Broadcasting Company)

But I have always liked Bill and think he has had the community's best interest at heart.

I also think he has done a fine job in Natchitoches, LA with the stations that he and Jim Bethard own there as well.

So, let the barrage of insults begin... but I respect Bill Vance... Perhaps because we have never worked together, I don't know... Until that day comes.

That's just it "you've never worked for him"

Nuff said...And that "he has the community's best interest at heart" Why do you think Mr. Vance himself is not involved in the community?

One thing I can say, I have seen Clear Channel (now GAP) out on the streets with public service remotes. I've seen them with child safety seat checks, backpack drives, stocking drives, and alot of things over the years. Maybe it's just my luck, but not once have I seen Mr. Vance's station at any of this.

I don't think Mr. Vance lives in the Lufkin/Nac area.
