KJIB 31 HOUSTON

The FCC database shows KJIB with a construction permit for digital on channel 31 from the Missouri City tower farm. Directional antenna favoring the populated areas of Houston, sort of a semicircle. Anyone see this on the air? My modest OTA digital setup doesn't easily pick up the digital LPTVs (my "regular" sets are on cable.)

The database also shows a STA for analog on Channel 29, with a construction permit to increase power. Not seeing anything on 29 at my Cy-Fair location (and I have never seen anything on channel 29 except for tropo from KABB or KVHP back in the analog days.) I suspect this analog facility has never been on the air and won't be built.

We'll see if KJIB gets cable carriage here. The other LPTVs (KUVM, KHLM, KVQT) are carried on Comcast. KCVH is supposedly about to relaunch (again) so we'll soon see if it gets cable clearance.

Aren't some of their programs already show on KAZH? When flipping thru from time to time there is a mega TV bug on some shows.....

Here in Pasadena I'm also not picking up KJIB on either 31 or 29. Also I've never been able to get K10PY-D but I don't think I'm missing too much since they like to run 24/7 infommercials.

KAZH 57 used to simulcast some programs from Mega but that ended about a couple of months ago when Pappas stopped running the station.

What a complicated web is the saga of KJIB and KVDO. According to the FCC application file (and this is highly condensed):

KJIB was analog on 5 but their facilities were destroyed in Ike. They had a CP to go digital on 29 from Missouri City. At that time, KYLE in Bryan was using 29 as its interim digital assignment and were planning to stay there, so KJIB got bumped from 29 to 31.

After this happened, KYLE requested to return to 28.

KVDO was analog on 25 but their facilities were destroyed in Rita. They applied to move to Missouri City on 29.

I haven't seen any sign of these two stations being on air from Missouri City. KUVM-LD turned on channel 40 from Missouri City today.

Was wondering when KUVM would finally fire up the digital on 40. Their channel 34 analog signal was shut down last October. According to postings on another forum, the channel 10 digital signal is still carrying Azteca America programming (plus subchannels) while the digital signal on 34 is now showing only a station ID across four subchannels. Are you seeing actual programming on 40? And does 40 have any additional subchannels?

We continue to wait for something to appear on 29, 30, and 31 (KVDO, KCVH, KJIB.) Another one in the future mix: KDHU with digital on channel 7.

I have never seen anything on digital 34.
On 40, 10.1 is blank, 10.3 is English infomercials, and 10.4 is Azteca América.

Okay, I moved my rabbit ears outside and was able to lock onto 34 with the four channels of a static ID.
Apparently they were sold recently to Mako, which owns K31GL-D in Dallas. Could this be a glimmer of hope for RTV in Houston?

Hopefully either 34 or 40 will get new call signs soon. It's confusing having KUVM-CD (34) and KUVM-LD (40, PSIP 10) in the same city.
