I couldn't agree with you more! The single or small group owner is going the way of the dinosaur I feel. Besides Stevie, you still have Saul Levine doing a whole bunch of stuff that he likes since what, 1959? Plus, he's invested in newer technologies to do that. Multiple HDs on his FM, and one on AM (by the way, my wife and I drove through LA a couple of weeks ago en route to Oxnard, and although KMZT HD only really works for about two to five miles through the downtown area, it sounds so dramatically great!) The late Bob Kieve did the same thing for KLIV and KRTY in San Jose, and after his death the stations died too terrestrially (sold to EMF for the FM and a Vietnamese broadcaster on the AM) but the powers that be kept the FM format continuing as it always had, but online. I have a friend who works on air there, and from what I hear they are still doing well enough to continue. It doesn't get big ratings, and he doesn't care. He doesn't own it to make money. That's the kind of owner there needs to be more of in music radio. Because truthfully, as music targets become narrow, music radio stations become less useful to advertisers.
Now if he just cut those 1-3 plats off the back of his head....and in good health. Performed at the Grammys last month.
Giving fashion advice to Stevie Wonder? Bold choice. Now if he just cut those 1-3 plats off the back of his head.
Not fashion advice, hairline advice. Hanging on to those last braids in the middle of his head is disheartening. Just go all the way bald. Its a good thing.Giving fashion advice to Stevie Wonder? Bold choice.
I know a lot of people think so, but neither his fashion nor his music is above criticism. Both are generally good, in some cases very good, but there are also notable exceptions.Giving fashion advice to Stevie Wonder? Bold choice.
So what? If the braids and his fashion sense work for him, let him keep doing his thing.I know a lot of people think so, but neither his fashion nor his music is above criticism. Both are generally good, in some cases very good, but there are also notable exceptions.
Let Stevie do Stevie Y’all. So what? If the braids and his fashion sense work for him, let him keep doing his thing.
Not sure on this... but:I know that KJLH originally stood for John Lamar Hill who acquired the station in the mid 1960s. What I don't know is whether or not KJLH is actually the first (or one of the first) Black-owned radio stations in the country.
Perhaps one of our gurus such as Michael, or David can help?
