I disagree with you radioray.... Tesh's show is not a sleepy love songs show...
Bill Edwards is a very smart programmer, and I'm certain he knows what he's doing.
Based on Tesh's ratings... both local an national, many stations have moved his show to the daytime. The tesh folks will be the first to tell you that his "delivery" is Bright AC (as opposed to soft/love songs, etc.).. thats why many of the non-ac stations in other markets do so well with the show (and they schedule their own music)... if you have the ability to do so, check out his P25-54 numbers in Hartford on WHCN/FM (a ROCK AC).... same thing with KIOI/San Francisco (Hot AC), or KSTJ/Las Vegas (80's) etc.
Keep in mind Tesh is from Long Island, and Kjoy makes a point of saying either "Garden City's own John Tesh"... or "Long Island's own John Tesh"... the dude has a significant following on the Island.
In order to be able to include the traffic, weather and contesting, I'd believe that Kjoy is using the Tesh voicetrack version and scheduling their playlist during the show.
Other markets who've moved his show into the daylight include KKLI/Colorado Springs (PM Drive), WSNI/Philly (AM Drive), KMGA/Albuquerque (PM Drive), and I read that WYSF/Birmingham is moving him to mid-days later this month.
> Wow, thats dumb. KJOY has been moving up in the ratings
> lately, this wont help at all. The Tesh show has a night
> time feel to it, way too laid back for people to listen to
> while driving on the LIE at 5:15 PM (for example).
