KJR Active Rock?

KISW has been top dog 25-54 men and adults for a couple years. With KJR-FM well behind KZOK, KISW and even getting beat middays by KMCQ, is it time for Bob Rivers to get back to ROCK? The Brew is a pretty good format, put it on KJR-FM and give KISW a run for their money. I would think there is an opening, given the amount of talk in afternoons and mornings on KISW. Rivers in the morning and ROCK all day long. The Brew has no chance on a weak signal, but might do well on t he 95.7 stick, plus it is a better fit for Rivers than transitioning into the Monkees. Partners well with KJR AM as a sports station too from a male sales perspective.

KMTT would be the logical underperforming frequency to challenge KISW, but they are in the same cluster. KLCK could flip. That station is now dead well behind other contemporary stations like KPLZ, KBKS and even KQMV in their own cluster.

Seems KJR could take a nice bite out of KISW. The irony is Rivers would be back with the format he started with in Seattle.

Yes KKBW's signal is a problem for active rock, or any format for that matter. I remember last Halloween when they flipped, I had not heard that they were playing Halloween music all weekend because I wasn't monitoring this board daily. My first thought was they were going to flip to Christmas music and put the new format on after Christmas, but not with that signal. Oh here's a possibility that I just thought of, flip 95.7 to rhythmic CHR, and return the KJR calls to the top 40 format in Seattle, then KKBW moves to 93.3 fm, then 104.9 relaunches as oldies, seems like a win win for everybody except the oldies format, which could benefit KMCQ. KUBE has a decent signal, but is full of bad spots in the metro that KJR-FM does not have, even though they transmit from the same antenna, so a win for both the rhythmic and rock formats. As for KLCK, I was listening yesterday and wow. Everything just fit together when they launched, but now they're trying to mix in 90s stuff and I don't know what they're doing. When they first launched, they reminded me of WRQX with an edge. That station has gone through some changes as well, but KLCK does not remind me of any version of WRQX at all anymore.

Fat chance of KUBE leaving 93.3. Or EVER giving up the KUBE name.

I do think full blown Classic Rock would be better for KJR-FM. As for KKBW, it's hopeless in any direction beyond Pierce County.

KLCK is crap now. I was really hoping they would toss the teenybopper pop and go full blown Alternative. Instead, they tossed the Alternative went full blown teenybopper pop..

KKBW comes in good over in Auburn and Algona, but is staticky and weak in Bellevue.

Your definition of "teenybopper pop" might be different than those of in radio today. Click hasn't played Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber or Cher Lloyd in the past week.

Their top spinning records are by Pink, Lumineers, Fun., Neon Trees and Of Monsters and Men.

Would require a good deal of money to change the format. Not just immediate costs in programming and promotions, but the sales side might take a significant hit. They have cut several talented people of late, not sure CC would be willing to take that kind of risk without some immediate reward.

"They have cut several talented people of late"

One of these there will be a large reunion of very talented people who used to work at CCR SEA
