KJR-AM ratings...misprint, fluke or something else?

I see where KJR am 12+ cume jumped to 772,000, exactly the same number as the FM on the ratings page. Meanwhile KIRO AM lost another 100,000 listeners. KHHO picks up another 6000 while KRKO in Everett is losing out to christian talk, Bellevue Community college and two High School stations. Ouch.

Hm. Apparently the strategy for success is to play Christmas music - you'll reach more than double your closest competitor!

I'm a bit surprised KCMS isn't higher, but the same kind of pattern appeared in SLC's PPMs as well.

Thanks for the clarification. Yesterday when I looked at the numbers posted in the ratings section of Radio Info they hadn't yet posted the holiday numbers so it was a surprise to see KJR AM going from a cume of 331,700 in November to 772,000 in December. Now I see they're :-\back to 280,800 for Holiday 2009. Still seems as if PPM has some large swings in it but since I only see 12+ numbers I guess that's to be expected. Didn't mean to offend anyone with the post, just trying to understand how PPM affects sports.

No apology necessary ... though in the bigger picture your post had something to do with (a) a new topic (b) something actually relevant to the business of REAL radio stations --- so probably irrelevant to most people who subscribe here. Please don't let that taste discourage you from participating in the future. I remain optimistic that SOMEDAY we'll bring relevance back to this interesting resource.
