Fact of the matter is listen to the damn station Eduardo.
This is a discussion of sales; all I need to do is bring up Maximiser or X-Trends and look at the demos. The station is not even in the top 25 in any of the sales demos.
The entire morning show is sponsored by the South Point Hotel Casino and Spa.
That must mean they can't sell any spots.
We are not talking a couple of sponsorships throughout morning drive.
On a significant station, they could not afford such a show. And a single sponsorship on a single station is not good advertising; spot on various stations would be more effective... unless the sponsorship is so cheap as to be a "deal you can't refuse."
No advertiser wants seniors?
No significant ones.
I know a few of you are unemployed on this board so just watch television during the day and tell me who the ads are catered to from 10am til 5pm?
Generally, they are targeted to moms who work in the home, shift workers who do not watch in prime time, people who work at home, people who have unusual off days, and lots of others besides seniors.
David Eduardo you have your head so far up your ass its incredible.
It is not my fault the station will bill around $500 k this year; the average McDonalds grosses around $1 million.
Thank god you are not in this business or we would all be in more trouble than what we already are.
How did you reach that absurd and untrue conclusion?
Doing everything by the book or acting verbatim as to what some assclown wrote in FMQB.
I have not looked at FMQB since around 1972 when I did CHR... but I liked Hamilton and Gavin better.
Fact of the matter is there's a niche for every demographic.
No, every demographic represents a niche. So do many psychographics. Age and lifestyle are what determines the appeal of any radio format... or TV show... or magazine.
So stop with what R&R said.
What is wrong with R&R? It's a reasonably good source of industry news. But not a bible of radio programming techniques.
That makes no sense.
Think about what they have accomplished with that signal and instead of bashing hold them up on your shoulders and shout to the lord!!!!
It's a small station with low billing and an undesirable demo. I'm, if anything, "bashing" those who think this is viable format today.
