Check the radio-info ratings page. Local hosts are Cheri Beasley (midday) and Steven Mikal Brown in afternoons. All others BA hosts. A Wilks station that took SJ format in April 2006 after CC got rid of theirs. 23rd most listened to in the market? Hmmmm. I think WDSJ Dayton is a given since they'll be sold if CC's deal goes through. If the deal doesn't they'll have to flip it. They dropped the ball on it. Not even the staff is listening especially given all the errors. WJZZ Atlanta should be watched as well. What about WJJZ in Philadelphia? It's an excruciating wait to see what BA/Greater Media has in store for the future of Smooth Jazz on that station. They pledged a commitment to it so let's do something over there. Unless there comes a great surprise I think WJZZ and KJZN should be watched closely. Surprises would be any remaining CC stations flip, no matter how bad the ratings like WZJZ Ft. Myers.

Was listening to JJZ Atlanta today while stuck in their lovely afternoon commute traffic. Within 20 minutes i heard

Michael McDonald - Sweet Freedom
Swing Out Sister
Sade

Oh and I think I heard an instrumental by Warren Hill.

The presentation from the jocks sounded sooooo dated. The smooth trip giveaway, smoothing out your workday, and if they thanked me one more time for listening.

Nock

Did they tell you they hoped you were having a nice Tuesday afternoon and looking forward to a relaxing Tuesday evening?
As if everyone worked 9-5 weekdays only then went home and sat around drinking wine and didn't have kids, errands, or a second job or all 3! Speaking of being dated and out of touch!

Not psychic but yeah...watching those dominoes fall. I took the business only approach and decided to think like a GM when BA calls. The pitch of low maintenance and not paying a staff is better than nothing. It's such a cheap format when strapped to a network. And part of their pitch is no doubt about "new innovations" and where the format is going, what it could do for their station. These stations might cut the format loose should other formats become viable as the radio climate changes. But when they do cut them loose all they will be doing is turning off a switch. No contracts or noncompetes to worry about. The BA Network is probably silently perceived by GMs as a quick temporary fix until they can figure out what will really work for their stations. They go where the money goes after they've saved some first by using the network.
