KKBT brings in a new PD

Former KACE PD Kevin Fleming. If this was Radio One's decision, I say they have all the makings of a success, KACE success that is, yup, KACE could never get above a 1 share and when 103.9/98.3 was sold to HBC/Univision, they doubled the numbers in no time and have tripled those numbers 6 years later.

But that's my question for our "insiders" that claim to be that, was this purely a RO decision or do we need to refer back to the past buzz that we have discussed about?

Wow, so no thoughts on Kevin's appointment? La's once big urban has really slid that far down.

My only question is why KKBT is the ONLY station you ever talk about? Aren't there 80 other stations to discuss?

But to answer your question, they obviously believe his experience with Joyner and doing UAC in the market will be helpful.

Why? Because it is THE station that is doing horrible! Isn't that why we post here, to talk about the awful stations? The other stations are performing average to good for what they target, yet KKBT was a successful Urban that went downhill after KDAY and KXOL socked it a good one and RO proved they threw too much money at this thing, only to see it slide. I didn't see Emmis waste 400 million on KZLA. Certainly not CC, KIIS is still tops as well as KOST and KFI, KBIG and KYSR are so so, but still decent, KHHT is doing good, and I don't know about 570 or 1150.

CBS? KLSX and the news twins(KNX AND KFWB) aren't having great days, but they still bill, KROQ does very good, KRTH, eh... ok, but that can be fixed and KTWV, very good.

ABC? Chugging along. Radio Disney and ESPN are promotional tools, so they don't count.

Univision, SBS, Liberman, Entravision. Everyone doing well, except for mabye KXOL, KWIZ, and Indie.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention 100.3 is a stand alone operation from a publicly traded company and that stock has been punished primarly because of LA, but also because of boneheaded moves in Philly, ATL, St Louis, Detroit, and rumored DC/Baltimore.

Bring back Pirate Radio 100.3 Urban is starting to look like rock stations did in the early 90's what LA doesnt have is a kick ass hard rock station

Yea I keep heaaring that Urban is a slowly dying format. That agencies are becoming more and more reluctant to buy time as there are other viable advertising options.

Pirate Radio was a failure. Scott Shannon was only days away from chainging the format to Hot AC if the Gulf war had not erupted.
