Yep. Came out of a meeting and it was classic rock. Bummed but it didn't shock me. Flipped over to KCSN and stayed there all afternoon. Closest to Dean/Skip that I can find.
Dean did say that Jeff R is coming back soon. Live from Sonora?
I never worked with these digital programs that everyone uses now. Why must they default to the Classic Rock if they've uploaded a couple thousand songs into the programming? I'd think there are two programs, one for each format? No? Can someone shed some light as to how what's uploaded cannot run? Crap, in the old days I'd program a ton in-house to supplement the music from syndicators. It was how we localized the basic out of the box format for the market. I suppose what was simple is now all too complicated?
Gimmie a turntable and a cart machine.
I really want to hear the morning show, with my shift I'm asleep during that time, also I have aggressive financial goals.
But the FM radio on my phone has a record button, this is going to be easy.

Beginning to think "Skip" really did skip town. Just can't listen to the old, automated play lists that they're running. I don't know why they can't curate new ones with some of the good stuff they've acquired.
I tuned in kinda late at 8. Good rant! YES! Say it like it is Dean! Sounds like a lot of this mornings tunes are maybe especially aimed at Pee Wee Verne. i.e. Billy Joel "You Had To Be The Big Shot"
Radio stations are often destroyed by “management” who try to create stations that serve to only feed their shortcomings and inflated egos. Being a PD In such situations is hell.
I will say that Castaways Liar Liar was played at the right time today...
Bummer of a day. Hope Monday brings Dean back. If not, thanks for a couple months of bringing back radio that matters.

I think the station sounds great why don’t they bring back the Joe Show you know Joe Collins wasn’t he on Kkdj originally
It sounds great when Dean and Skip are left alone to do what they need to do and the 1950’s equipment held together by chicken wire is halfway operating correctly. I really love listening to Dean talk about radio and the origin/history of “The Real KKDJ”, but I must admit I getting tired of having the flow of the show stopped by Dean’s (And rightfully/justifiably so ) bitching ( For no better word at 8:22 am) because of outdated technology. Step up and bring this endeavor at least into the 1990’s.

I don't know why you would say this I have toured the facilities It is state of the art. They have managed to put a radio and TV studio together nothing here but a really nice set up. I wonder if Dean may be looking for Turntables, Cd Players and Cart machines, listening to his show which sounds like 30 years ago I wonder if he cannot work the new equipment. It seems like when I hear Skip who follows him on air he has no problem it seems to run smooth
Dean would be the first to admit his past problems and has talked about them on air,it gave me another outlook on some things. Having said that,IMO your attacks on Dean’s past is uncalled for and what was the point of them ? If we want to drag up past problems in the life’s of Fresno radio people,there are a few at “Radio City” we could start with.

We all have problems at work. I appreciate Dean's honesty in talking openly about his. I was thinking the other day that I wish I had the nerve to walk in to work and just be totally honest. This is a different morning show than KKDJ of the past. It's real life drama. Will today be the day the music dies? I hope not. As Dean goes so goes the success of this comeback attempt for the call sign kkdj. There was nothing local to listen to two months ago. Dean's music has been a surprising if not shocking change. Cant believe it's Fresno. The thought occurs to me that it took three people to make the breakfast club great. Dean, Don and Gunner. While this may be Dean unplugged it's still better than all the slickly produced wanna be morning teams doing the same old crap. Rock on Dean!
Is this the last show for Dean? He gives praise to Gary, so WHO is the problem there? SomeONE has other plans for the stick I guess.
Apparently they've "only just begun" as they've been playing this song over and over for the last 20 minutes and no sign of it stopping. Really, The Carpenters. Sorry but this has been a sad story of a radio station since day one.
I presume that we are still talking about K259CF, the translator for KYAF? This thread is so confusing that it is hard to figure out what station is being discussed. In any case, I am renaming the thread "KKDJ"
