I agree, more Bob Rivers is needed during the holiday season. You're right, its radio. The day after Thanks Giving isn't a bad starting day considering most people are out shopping for gifts and most women (as defined by my wife) like to get into the spirit that day.
I find it somewhat humorous looking at the Christmas music trends from the past few years.
Year 1: CC did something revolutionary and changed formats of long standing AC stations to Christmas music, people LOVED it.
Year 2: CC made it mandatory for AC stations across the country to make the switch at Christmas time. Continued to do well.
Year 3 and/or 4: Other stations got on the wagon; other stations start to do Christmas music, stations start to fight to be the first. CC jumps the gun and launches VERY early (November 1 if I remember correctly). Mix follows shortly after.
Year 5: Y92.5 launches Christmas music with Delilah and Christmas music weekends and I don’t know what Mix is doing but when I’ve turned it on, it’s not Christmas music 24/7 like it used to be.
Before anyone attacks, my dates may be off, but you get the idea, the “fad” is over and it only took 5 years.<P ID="signature">______________
