KKFS is all Christmas, already

I turned on The Fish today and it's all Christmas, already. Am I the only one who thinks this is a dumb move for them? Toby Mac, Michael W, and all the rest are gone replaced by Andy Williams, Bing Crosby and many more old sounding 50s and 60s songs.

Argh, it's not even Thanksgiving yet....

I suppose it fits their format more than most others, but the general public probably isn't aware of the station, they'd need to advertise to make it pay off

Just in time for K-LOVE to make in roads now that they're on with full power at 89.7. Not too smart on Salem's part.

Well, I guess a Christian music station playing music from a Christian holiday is not a stretch.

I love older Christmas music, so I certainly am not complaining.....

What puzzled me from the time I worked there to the present is why, when "The Fish" format is just begging for more promotion to gather bigger numbers, it just never happens....when I was there, a very brief corporate-looking ad ran on local TV for a short time, and the numbers predictably increased; promotion ceased, so did the growth spurt.

I'm no lover of this style of music, but my years as a radio listener and my decades behind the mikes told me this format sounded very solid...the only problem I heard was the two 6:30 spot blocks...I knew people who learned to turn off every hour when these blocks started and not turn the station back on for exactly 6:30....why any sponsor would by a portion during a block that long defied logic..and wasted some bucks.

As a listener, I've found that KWOD's breaks work best for met. They may be a bit more frequent, but the very short length is something I can easily sit thru. I always wondered why some stations have infuriatingly long breaks. When I'm driving and a station goes to spots, i typically tune too another. If I do, listen to a 4 minute song, punch back and theya re STILL playing commercials, they've lost me.

Spot breaks

And here… we… go!

This should have its own string as it is the one thing I have debated with other programmers more than anything else! Many short breaks (two minutes or less) vs. a couple of long breaks, or something in between. I think K-Wod’s pattern gives the perception that they are always in a break… seems they stop down after every song. If I’m running 10 units an hour I would try to stick to two breaks.

Just heard a Promo "Sacramento's Christmas music station NOT YET but coming soon to My925"

Oh Joy !! ::)
I thoght since KGBY dropped Convential AC in favor of HOT AC, that ALL CHRISTMAS MUSIC would be history at that station. Guess I was wrong?

I'm still waiting for that little armed man to point his .357 directly at the receding hairs of my graying temple and force me to listen to any radio station......Christmas music or any other format.......

Some radio suits saw the bigger numbers in November/December of recent holidays past and decided to jump the gun....but I suspect every corporate programmer walked through virtually every grocery, drug & department store in the nation, and saw copious quantities of Christmas items displayed {many already 40-60% off} in September and that notorious light bulb clicked.

And rarely, rarely...does THAT bode well.........
