KKGO'S CHARLIE COOK STEPS DOWN, OWNER SAUL LEVINE TAKES OVER?

Didn't see anyone talking about this, so I thought I'd get the ball rolling.

KKGO-Go Country 105 Sr Programmer Charlie Cook is stepping back from that role and will consult the station as Mt Wilson Broadcasting President Saul Levine takes a more active role in day-to-day programming. It's also announced that Tonya Campos will continue as PD. Levine told LARP.com that he's going to become more active in the "day-to-day programming and music decisions at the station." He's also taking music calls, but only once a month.

???

Wonder what's going on at Mt. Wilson...

The ratings needle is moving...in the wrong direction. They need to hire a PD that has been
winning big, elsewhere. There are some great Country PDs, but I don't think Mr. Levine is
one of them.

Speaking of Go Country, I guess Ashley Paige is gone from the morning show.

She is still on the Web Site. I personally liked Robin Banks better, I think she was another Charlie Cook effect as was the letting go of Todd Baker which was a real mistake IMHO.

Initially they hired Cook as a consultant then brought him on board as PD. I liked the original music mix (BCC) better as they mixed in more older stuff. Here in my new Heartland home even the "New Country" stations have some older stuff in the mix. I just hope that Saul's tinkering doesn't kill it and set off another format change. Tanya Campos has a lot of experience in music and artists and hopefully they will use that to good advantage.

KKGO has gotten a bit stale as of late. The music rotation hasn't been that great for the last six months.

Probably just a money thing.

About the music: less older songs are played now, but probably more people listening less often (in short bursts) want to hear the newer songs.

There are some that listen all dang day long and would enjoy more of a mix, but that is probably not the majority.

As long as any type of country remains I am grateful!
