KKIS/990 Move To Sloughhouse Done?

On the Sackamenna board here at friendly Radio-Info.com, word that KKIS/990 is transitioning from Collinsville to its new transmitter pad in lovely Sloughhouse, near Big Sac:

This would mean that co-owned KIQI/1010 will make its move to increase its signal in the Bay Area ... and that KSFO could possibly move to the vacated KKIS transmitter site in the swamps of Collinsville (perhaps with the assistance of Minutemen to guard the site) with a bump to 50KW -- if Farid Suleman can scrounge the funds.

Do you know if KSFO is eligible to go to 50KW?

WOW!

50,000 watts at 560? And with an excellent, soggy transmitter site like that in the West Delta to boot...?

If you think KGO's signal is a monster, just wait...

If this actually happens, KSFO will doubtless kick waaay down at night (probably no more than a thousand), and probably be directional, too.

But even if directional during the day (or maybe especially directional), still, OMG, the signal that station is gonna have...

Back in the 80's, KKIS had a Ham & Edison study that had them going 25Kw by moving about 6 miles from Collinsville, and going to 6 towers. Jim Chabin elected to pass, as it was going to cost a fortune.

I'm still not convinced that KSFO could cover the Bay Area properly given that the Berkeley Hills are between Collinsville and the Bay Area. It would be the "KTRB Effect" all over again. As it is, 990 doesn't do much for the Bay Area either. (1010 protects 990, but 990 doesn't protect 1010.)
