KKLF To Be Sold er Moved Into A Trust

The Trust is an interim ownership situation which gets those stations out from the Cumulus/Citadel umbrella. They will eventually be sold off to new owners, probably piecemeal.

A similar thing is going on in Los Angeles, with KFWB currently in a trust, spun off from CBS. Has been previous discussion of this on the LA boards; a search will turn that up.

I recall here in Houston a bunch of stations going into a trust during the big consolidations/divestitures in 2000 before going to permanent owners.

The trust situation is the same thing Susquehanna did when they bought 570 and moved KLIF there. 1190 was put in a trust until it was sold.

I'll bet that KKLF will go to a shell company run by a Dickey relative.

As for KFWB, CBS placed it in a trust five years ago and still haven't done anything. Since then, CBS let it's heritage all-news format practically languish on the vine and die off (it now runs a hodgepodge of syndicated self-help shows, political talk and brokered programming on the weekends).

The Ticket is airing a legal several times a day announcing some transfer of ownership that's about 4 minutes long. Lots of names mentioned — lots of Dickeys and DiMartinis. Maybe that has to do with the merger — don't know if the other Cumulus stations are doing likewise.

Yes. Heard a similar announcement on KPLX (99.5 The Wolf) yesterday.

It is the legal announcement of the Cumulus buyout of Cumulus Media Partners, which was a separate entity jointly owned by Cumulus and their equity partners that bought out the Susquehanna stations.

It has nothing to do with the Citadel merger.

Or maybe it indirectly does. Cumulus may have to do some tidying-up of its ledgers before moving ahead with the Citadel move.
