KKNS sold

Anyone familiar with El Camino Broadcasting? A new company... can I presume sports is going bye-bye?

I never understood why Simmons messed around with a single station in Abq, but they did get some billing, unlike a few of the other AMs. Not a bad price considering the decent coverage and some money coming in.

Simmons seems to be interested in expanding its sports AM's. It has standalone AM's in several markets, like Memphis. Sports is usually a low overhead format that significantly outbills its ratings share. I would also suspect part of the reason they kept KKNS had to do with HBC/Univision's level of interest in acquiring it when they got their FM's.

That's true, but they could have owned other low-overhead stations to split what costs they did have. You'll remember that KKNS used to do consumer talk (Clark Howard, et al) as KBTK.
