KKOB-AM Downturn

Lots of discussion here about failing radio stations switching formats, but another BIG story is the tumbling ratings of KKOB-AM! If trends continue, they may come out of the book with under a six share, perhaps even falling to number two 12+. This is a big hit to Citadel's seven million dollar biller. If I were Milt, I'd be raging in the hallways! I have my own ideas about why this is happening, and no - its not war or politics fatigue. Perhaps TOO DAMN MANY COMMERCIALS or mabye they are being dragged down by a lame, downer afternoon host. I do think overall Pat sounds pretty good in the short time he has between the stunning commercial inventory. Anybody have access to hour-by-hour data to see if I am right about their afternoons?

Actually, KKOB is on a rather amazing uptrend if you look at the extraps. It is three whole points above the June month in the Spring book, and should finish the book about in the normal range once they shed the bad June numbers In August, it is #1 in the market, and had its best 25-54 month in over a year in August.

Trends are unweighted, of course. And they do not have hour by hour, just dayparts. Afternoons 12+ had the best numbers in both July and August that they have had in over a year.

This shows just how bad KAGM was... when they flipped, their negative listenership had to find somewhere to go, and they went back to 770!
