KKOB not selling at night?

DXing KKOB a few nights recently during Savage and it appears they're only covering the :10 network billboard during stopsets with a local liner, then rejoining the network to fill the 4-minute local break. Is this abnormal, or do they not bother selling or filling local spots it from 9pm on?

This is the top station in ABQ, but after 8 or 9 PM, there is very little radio advertising placed, and what you do hear is as often as not, bonus spots.

You're right David, but why not be like a normal station and, if ads have to run, bonus your clients and hope an insomniac or two supports their business rather than bonus a network that could care less?

Well, right now it may be simply because they don't have many clients. Just about every station I've ever worked for outside of large markets has had shortages in clients in January because a lot of their clients buy package deals negotiated at the beginning of the year. The deals often don't have their i's dotted and their t's crossed until around the end of the month. From everything I've been told, even though Albuquerque is on the border between a large and medium market depending on which source you look at, it behaves like a much smaller market when it comes to advertising deals.
