KLAA 830 - Michael Savage

Michael Savage moves to KLAA 830 effective 4/2 - and will air live from 3-6p.
With the recent addition of Mark "Mr. K" Germain, and now Michael Savage, PM Drive has gotten a bit more interesting.

And nobody has a prayer to challenge John & Ken especially with their upcoming trip and live broadcasts from Washington D.C.

KLAA...great signal...but only if you live next to the transmitter.

So Mr. Savage comes full circle in L.A. so to speak (his show started on the old "Hot Talk" KPLS AM 830).......but he's going to get pre-empted by Ducks hockey, and is AM 830 still the home for Angels en Espanol? I thought all the sports pre-emptions was why Savage had his people court Salem and KRLA in the first place. And now......well, I guess beggers can't be choosers.

KRLA still has his pic up at the top of their homepage www.krla870.com Also, their question of the day is "Michael Savage listeners, What other KRLA show do you listen to?"

Jerry Doyle will proceed Savage live from 1-3pm according to the on-air station promos. The only thing left in spanish on the station now is the Angels games. I imagine what time isn't brorkered on weekends will be filled by TRN programming. They also could pick up Sporting News Radio for nights and weekends once KMPC changes over.

Glenn, I'm sure where you are (live?) the KLAA signal is not that good. BUT in my Brea office (around 24 miles I guess from their txmtr) they are the 2nd strongest station, right behind KFI. 20kw night signal is great throughout Orange County (again in most of LA that isn't true).
RadioFanBoy, yes Savage will be pre-empted by Ducks hockey when they are playing road games in the Central and Eastern time zones. And Angels games in Spanish as well, but like you said, beggars can't be choosey. It was just a matter of time (les time than I thought) that Savage would not put up with being cut to two hours tape-delayed starting at 9 pm on KRLA.
And next year look for the Angels English language broadcasts to migrate to 830 AM (wonder where Arte will place the Spanish broadcasts) and the Dodgers games to go to 710.

Arte Moreno didn't make billions by luck. He's going to really have to market the station now. Starting with billboards (after all that is where he made his $$$) and then newspaper ads along with PennySaver ads, etc.

True. But as one of only a few conservative Republcians in my zip code, he probably doesn't have much to gain in West L.A. anyway. Terrible day signal and unlistenable night signal. Same goes for places I travel to in the San Fernando Valley.

For all the money he's got, he hasn't done much with the station up until now. Look at that website. I've seen better for Palm Springs stations! He needs to stream, too. And if he wants to be "The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim" he better come up with a better way of delivering on radio the games to Los Angeles County.

I certainly hope the Dodgers move from KFWB. They have no business being on a news station. It's been a terrible match from day one.

Can't say as much for the Yankees' deal with NewsRadio 880/WCBS - mind you, also owned by CBS as is KFWB...

WCBS 50KW, KFWB 5KW. KFWB can hardly be heard in Southern Orange County.

The Dodgers aren't streamed by KFWB. KFWB hardly evens mentions them during their regular broadcast day.

I know the Dodgers buy the time but what is the use when KFWB doesn't support something that's just plunked down in the middle of their normal schedule? They don't do anything to keep those who tune into the games to listen to KFWB AT ALL. And the ratings, year after year, show that.

You can't blame KFWB for not streaming the Dodgers. MLB wants fans to shell out $14.95 so they can listen to the games on their crappy sounding streams.

I see the IT people for Salem cut out Savage's pic. What a great job they did just leaving a black space where his pic was. Could you be any more obvious? With that kind of quality work, they should apply for a gig with Clear Channel's IT department.
