KLBJ-AM Program Change Announced 06/23/2013

Today (06/23/2013) this program announced that it would be their last on-air broadcast.
They will go to a podcast only.

KLBJ-AM
590 KHz
Sunday
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
The Savvy Real Estate Show with Sam Trantham and Harold McGee

I do not know what program will replace it because they still have this program listed for that time slot.

Maybe they were not meeting their goals of the station i.e. getting enough advertisers.

KJCE 1370 runs a number of these local paid programs on the weekend.
If it doesn't generate sales, what's the point of buying the air time?

Fred, sometimes it's just brand awareness. Even if no direct sales are generated, the program makers can add "as discussed on KXXX" to their other marketing material.

Or... they just want to pay to hear themselves talk & be able to tell their friends about it. It's their money.

Related story on perceived value: I once worked on a power increase for an AM station in a large city to the east of you. All parties agreed that the only net result of the expensive upgrade would be to increase the signal over the Gulf. When I asked the owner why he was going through the effort that no one would hear, his clear response has always stuck with me: "it increases the value of the station if I ever want to sell it. Got it?".

Yes sir, no problem, I'll get right back to running radials.

They had been airing reruns of the KLBJ-AM morning show (Mornings with Mark Caesar, Ed Clements & Sgt. Sam Cox) in place of the real estate show that was canceled.

The new program (first aired on 08/04/2013) for the 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Sunday time slot is: The Dr. Dan Show

Dr. Dan Ladd and Lurleen Ladd

Daniel J. Ladd, Jr., D.O.is the Medical Director and Founder of Tru-Skin Dermatology in Austin, Texas.
Lurleen Ladd is Co-Founder & Executive Director, The Shade Project

Their first guest was one of their employees: Corina Corbeille, Cosmetic Nurse Specialist at Tru-Skin Dermatology (she discussed Botox and fillers)

[I'm thinking this is something that Fred Cantu will be interested in...maybe a Kim Kardashian/Jennifer Lopez look...]
