KLBT-FM and KRCM new format - "dead air"

KRCM began simulcasting KLBT-FM within the past few weeks, in an effort to keep their station until the new facilities are built north of Houston (if that ever happens). This weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, both stations have nothing being broadcast but silence. There is apparently something wrong at the KLBT studio, or a failure of some kind, but no one has killed the transmitters.

Is there a fine for just having your transmitters on and broadcasting nothing?

This is the third day in a row.

As long as legal IDs are still being broadcast, and EAS tests are still being performed, nope, the FCC doesn't "care".

Silence, while better than some formats I've heard, isn't very conducive to the profit margin...

Yeah that stinks for them...heard that the a/c went out in the office here in town and the equipment was overheating, forcing them off until they can get it fixed. I haven't listened to see if they were back up though. Hopefully it happens quickly, I enjoy that station.
