KLCK 98.9 is interesting

Well, 104.1 KAFE got bumped for KLCK, and I'm enjoying it. Kings of Leon, etc. I get bored with some of it but find myself coming back to it often to see what's playing. Nice to have a new choice.

I first listened to them after the switch from Smooth Jazz to their present format and if I remember correctly I thought they were advertising playing 10,000 songs commercial free. I drifted away after a while and came back to the station about a month ago, I check into it regularly but it seems to have a pretty short playlist so I'm disappointed after the big launch.

Yes, KLCK is a nice little station. I don't know that I like it as much now as when it first launched, but it's still a nice little change from Star. If programmed right, they can wedge themselves in between KPLZ and The End, and The Mountain can be wedged in between KLCK and KZOK, which they seem to be already doing. I'm not quite sure why they pulled those new year, new station sounders out of the closet about a month ago, it's as if they relaunched again.

I still listen to Click, despite how many times they've shifted their music. I honestly think if they went back to straight-forward Alternative, they would do better.

Agree 100%. Hearing Kelly Clarkson into Black Keys makes no sense. You can hear Kelly Clarkson and Pink on 8 stations in Seattle. With KMTT going classic rock and the END having issues, there is a wide hole now for KLCK. Fans of alternative are not going to stick around for Kelly, Pink and Maroon 5 60 times a week. Stick to Modern AC or alternative and with the changed landscape (KMTT with no currents and END a mess) and KLCK could have something. Black Keys, Flo and Machine, REM, Red Hot Chili Peppers was the core sound of KLCK when it launched and it worked. Mix in some Adele (not Kelly) and Cold Play (not Maroon 5) and you have a real format. It would work even better now.

KLCK is a mess. They really had a lot of potential against KNDD, but they blew it all to be the next Star 101.5 wannabe. (Yawn.) Their early repetition was another huge problem.

But then again, AC of some kind or another has always been a Sandusky Seattle specialty.......

The only station I really haven't liked in that cluster other than the two am stations is KRWM, and even they have gotten better since they revamped in 07. As much as I miss KLSY, I would be really dissappointed if KQMV flipped formats. I think if KLCK were alone they'd have a pretty good shot.
