KLCK 98.9 Turning to FM Sports

Those board op jobs have been posted for years now. Surprised that it took you guys so long to find them. Apparently you need to ramp up those job hunting skills.

Actually Rob, they'll fit right in. Board ops in 2016 need a pulse....and that's about it.

That is rather cruel and dismissive. While in some cases, a board op can just be a babysitter for the automation, in others it requires quite a bit of skill and knowledge.

To get this back on track, something tells me that what ever the new name is, sometime oh, around noon today (Monday) John O'Hurley will be uttering the Hubbard trademarked phrase "You never know what we're going to play next"

It seems to me that the most likely possibility is that they think KUBE jumped the gun and that they can execute the CHR/Rhythmic format better.

Are you suggesting another adult hits station?

Not saying it ain't happening...and Seattle is one of the towns where the Jack format has done well, but adult hits stations seem to be shrinking, not growing...and to have two in a city would be unusual.

The classic-rock idea just seems to make the most sense. Unless it is the ultimate case of "call signs don't matter", the KVRQ sign says it'll go rock somehow. Wedging it between KISW and KZOK as a straight-ahead AOR station is one option, going a bit more softer, classic hits-like sound would get them a few KZOK folks and those who left KMCQ after its sale.

There is also the option that they'll try and do something AAA-like too...

I always said it would be nice for Bob to come to Seattle to fight it out with Jack...
But I feel again, it's FM sports or classic rock. What's our wheel of formats today?

It was smooth jazz overnight...

I can't discern the theme this morning. Soft 70's love ballads?

Anyone wanting to guess KVRQ's their new moniker? I'm going with 'K-Rock'. (Yes, that's generic...broadcasters usually don't try anything new...too risky.)

Right, because "Movin," "Click" and "Warm" are in every market in the country.

Jeez, she didn't even make it 2 years in the chair. And that was her second time working for the King of Factoria, who said back then (http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/132726/klck-names-lisa-adams-for-pd-duties):

"We are thrilled to have LISA back in our hallways. The time she spent here in 2005 and 2006 was highly successful and her spirit and work ethic permeated the building. We know with her programming skills and thorough knowledge of the market, she is the right person to take CLICK 98.9 to the next level."

Now tell me who in their right mind would want to program a station for this group? Never mind, don't answer. There's at least 2 people on this board who would take the job.

What about variety rock similar to KFMB-FM in San Diego?

Nope. Jack-FM has that slot mostly covered and there's not enough share to make a competitor worthwhile.

OH NO!.. They played a Punjabi set today!

Dang. There goes the Seattle dial now!

:)

Gotta say though... it's been an interesting couple of days. Maybe some tweeting birds and jungle animals before it's done?

I especially like the dead space between tracks. Kinda takes you back to the Bonneville & Schulke beautiful music days. Either that, or they're doing it to make the DXers happy.

Can't believe I missed the overnight SJ. Now if only they would play that for 24 hours straight so I could tape some of it. Don't care about the Punjabi or whatever they are spinning now.
UPDATE: Back to Madonna, w/ "Lucky Star" at 5:44PM.

Or maybe Dave Ratener dug out a multi-disc CD changer from the storage room...either way I agree, the loose segues are a delight.

Have you heard of this new-fangled thing called audio streaming? I bet you can find some SJ there. No tape needed.
