KLDT/54 (DFW) and Retro TV

As most of us around here know, last year, Johnson Broadcasting announced that Retro TV (RTV) programming would begin appearing on subchannels of KLDT in Dallas/Fort Worth and KNWS in Houston. Subsequently, the station was sold off in bankruptcy auction to a buyer who plans Spanish language programming, and the likelihood of RTV ever running on either station is probably zero.

Interestingly, the daily TV listings in the Dallas Morning News are now showing RTV programming on KLDT during prime time -- however, the actual programming on the station is unchanged, with no actual RTV programs airing. I wonder how long it will take before this is corrected? And I wonder where the erroneous listings are coming from...

My guess is that KLDT's program director gave the paper-- or the TV guide service they subscribe to-- a start date for Retro TV right before the sale was announced and he was let go. The paper went with the last word they got from the station.

rabbitears.info also still lists RTV on 54.2 even though 54.2 does not exist.
I suspect all this will get corrected when the new owners put the spanish language format on the air.

I'm still listing it because there'd be nothing keeping Una Vez Mas from setting up RTV on a subchannel in addition to Spanish programming on the main feed, and it's still listed as an affiliate on the RTV website. Once I hear confirmation that it will not be put on KLDT and KNWS, or I'm confident that it is definitely not happening, I will pull the listing from RabbitEars.

I'm really pretty confident that RTV won't appear on subchannels for either station -- in fact, when the announcement was initially made, I never thought there was much chance that RTV would ever make it onto these stations. But I'll freely admit that is only an opinion, since I have no inside information.

In the meantime, the Dallas Morning News listings went back to showing a schedule of informercials on KLDT after four days, so where ever the incorrect information came from, it apparently has been corrected.

For the last several months, they have been leasing most of the hours out to ShopNBC instead of the daily marathon of infomercials they had been running.
