KLEY / La Ley 95.7 in SA has terrible audio. It sounds like they have a compresser all wack... And there's this constant popping noise... and when there's a quiet spot, u can hear a buzzing noise on the right channel.

Anyone know how long it's been like that? I noticed it a couple weeks ago and I'm surprised BMP hasn't fixed it.

95.7 signal is very low power esp. near the Airport. Probally something wrong on the board, or the trasmitter. BMP doesn't invest much in that station as they do with KTFM, KTSA, KJXK, or KSAH. KHHL 103.1, and KRIO 104.1 also have poor signal. In fact I see more promotions for Estereo Latino than any other Spanish language station. I got my haircut last week at Ken's and Estereo Latino was out there off Austin Highway, a walkable distance to BMP on Eishenhower.

Estereo Latino is from Univision. Univision is better.

KJXK audio sounds kinda crappy too.

95.7, 103.1 and 104.1 may have studios in San Antonio, but their towers are outside the metropolitan area. That's the main reason their signal is not as strong.

Where is KLEY's tower exactly? I thought it was in San Antonio.

When I was in San Antonio last October, I made a YouTube video of how easy or difficult it is to pick up some of those southern rimshot stations. I'll have to see if I still have it when I get home tomorrow. As I believe we've discussed before, Fred, an 81 watt translator right downtown covers San Antonio proper better than either 95.7 or 104.1.

Have you noticed that KSAH/KRIO numbers have increased to the high 3 shares since the simulcast on 104.1? Despite what others beleive, 104.1 and 95.7 has a clear signal throughout SA. Hell, I bet Univision or CC would swap 92.5 or 97.7 for 104.1.

Isn't 102.3 a BMP translator? They get a good coverage of San Antonio in my oppinion.

BTW 104.1 is now KSAH-FM. The KRIO-FM calls now reside on 104.9 in the Valley (Alamo).

Those heritage calls may cause some confusion in the Valley because they are still being used by KRIO 910 McAllen. KRIO-AM was a huge top 40 station in the 60s and 70s but is now just one of several Spanish religious stations in the Valley. Having KRIO-FM in the Valley may have people wondering if they are co-owned. It could also have people asking if they could simulcast. The little class A 104.9 could use the help to cover the Brownsville end of the elongated McAllen-Brownsville market.
