KLJT Tyler

I was in East Texas today and was surprised to see that KLJT is broadcasting in HD. Anyone know how long they've been in HD and if there has been talk of an HD2 format?

No, I knew the Wallers were buying HD transmitters. They must have just put it on the air. I guess that makes KLJT the first HD radio station in East Texas. Now, has anyone in East Texas seen an HD radio in any local stores?

I miss KLJT's christian format "The Light 102.3 KLJT". Sure, every daypart but drive-time was automated via Salem's "Today's Christian Music" format, but it was very well done.

I liked the artist spotlights and the "reason to believe" featurettes.

My understanding is Waller canned the format due to lackluster ratings and slow sales. The ratings will always be biased against that frequency due to its inadequate coverage area. The sales figures were the fault of a sales force which opted to make the easy sales on KOOI/KYKX rather than try to push KLJT. Who can blame them? Close the deal and hit the door.

None the less, I miss the old format.

Yeah, I know it's been launched within the last few weeks...it wasn't in HD at the beginning of the month. BTW, the 95.3 signal is still analog...unless Marshall isn't close enough for my radio to pick up the carrier.
