KLMO adds 92.1 translator

98.9 has most likely added an illegal booster in West San Antonio area, signal has increased tremendously the past week. Traditionally, the station struggles to get into SA on a good day. Today along Loop 410 W, we hear the same song battle itself with a 5-9 second delay, possibly indicating a booster with a separate feed/source is in town... Nothing on FCCdata.org about this

Another nail in the coffin for KXTN-AM.
The owner could care less. KXTN has been sold to the George Soros backed Latin Media group and will be gone as soon as the FCC approves the sale. In fact, Televisa has sold all its US AM stations; they had already sold their Mexican radio stations including heritage XEW.

Any idea what the new owner will do with 1350 once KXTN goes bye-bye?

As for KLMO, maybe the booster just likes bottles of rum. Yaaaaarrrrrrr!

It will be programmed by TelevisaUnivision through 2023 and then it will start to be run and programmed by Soro's company.

From statements issued by the two heads of the new company, who have no radio experience at all, it will be "fair and balanced" (to steal a positioning statement) news and information for both Spanish dominant and English dominant Hispanics.

I wonder if those changes will carry over to KROM HD2 and KLTN HD3

Not as far as I know. The buyer has purchased all of TelevisiaUnivision's AM stations, as well as stations in non PPM markets (McAllen and Fresno) and one ultra-rimshot FM in Dallas.

Obviously, if the buyer wanted to rent the HD channels, they could negotiate those or any other they wanted.

Does that mean the remainder of Univision Radio is up for sale?

I like how you lead led that with "George Soros". Depending on where your stand in the political spectrum, that guy's name is either massively problematic or welcomed.

But to him, I suppose this is just chump change. A worthwhile venture to further solidify his legacy in international political meddling.

So one is safe to assume that TelevisaUnivision won't keep a Tejano format going on KVBH-HD2 or KLTN-HD2?

Interesting how Televisa saw no value in radio in Mexico.

In the US, TelevisaUnivision radio stations continuously advertise other TelevisaUnivision content. For example, KVBH and KBBT have had ads for Vix and Vix+. I personally found it baffling that KVBH just casually advertises LigaMX soccer games.

No. They got rid of the AMs that are not profitable in Spanish and the two non-PPM markets.

I'd assume that to be true.

The issue was very different there. Going back three and four decades, Televisa put TV executives who were out of favor in the radio stations so that they would not take internal "secrets" to another TV group. More recently, the third Azcárraga in the controlling family decided that "we don't know how to do radio" and sold control of the stations to the big Spanish group, PRISA.

In the larger markets, having radio to promote TV is a major competitive advantage. Telemundo has no radio operation.

And there it is... 98.9 KLMO booster/antenna sitting on top of a bldg on NW Loop 410, light years away from its accepted booster in Devine/La Coste... The appropriate people are aware of this.

Is it the studio?
About a block away from the studio. Seems the Lopez boys helped themselves to the bldg rooftop next door by renting a suite/office there. It’s well rigged and obviously designed to illegally capture SA’s North metro: a bold move knowing it doesnt come close to KLMO-1 Devine or the approved booster for <100 watts in La Coste.

He’s feeding this antenna by ISP with a delay so the signal/program fights itself 30 seconds ago: horrible listening if youre anywhere between this antenna and the original Dilley mountain stick at 98KW watts.

As for the Lopez engineer.... Well, I heard his name starts with G. G. and he's... Let's just say shady...
