KLOL is top Spanish station

Just had an opportunity to view the October PPM results and to my surprise KLOL beat KLTN for the top rank position in all major demos.

What happened to KLTN and KOVE? These two stations had a strangle hold of 1 and for years.

David any thoughts on this development? Sure seems odd not to see a Univision station leading the pack in Houston.

Is this the first market outside of NYC where a Univision station is no longer number one?

The rankers arbitron issues are on cume... KLOL is cume-driven, as a CHR, but does not win on AQH persons; KLTN does. Radio sells and advertisers buy on ratings points, not cume.
 
David sorry to disagree but KLOL beat KLTN in AQH Persons A18-49 and A25-54 which are the basis for time buys. This is the first time this has happened so please take a look at the latest results.

Seems to me that your a fan of klol, right? So there you have it. There is no spanish station in houston that beats KLTN in ratings. And the ratings you saw on this website are CUME like David Eduardo said.
 
Actually I am a fan of Spanish radio and not just KLOL. I am not quoting CUME numbers (per your and David's reference). I have seen the actual October PPM results and they reflect KLOL being top rated in demos outside of the P6+ CUME that you have read online.

Maybe one day you'll be able to have access to more than just P6+ CUME results.

It's just ironic how nobody likes to accept any other company having success in Spanish formats. I have great respect for Univision Radio and any other operator that offers great formats.
 
I have t agree with you KLOL did very well I'm not to happy with the way its flowing(im still trying to fine tune some details) and I'm not sure beto is the best person for the morning but yes klol beat kltn and by the way DAvid explain somthing to me why did piolin drop in almost every market?? in LA in dallas he droped in Atlanta he is not leading it seems as soon as the whole immigration caraband was over his numbers droped!!

Well I know you didnt ask me but yes its true Piolin ratiings dropped. I have asked alot of persons because I work part time at a Surveying company and I had t do surveys about morning shows and I had lost of comments saying that they listened to Piolin when he was doing all this imigration thing. But when people found out he counldnt do anything they stopped listening to him. Most persons said in quote ( I listened to Piolin when he was doing the Caravan to Washington but I dont listen to him any more because I dont like to listen to people talk alot. Same thing goes for Raul Brindis, I rather listen to Recuerdos because they play more music and they dont talk that much on the radio.) But if you go to www.radioalaire.com they did a survey and asked everybody to vote for their favorite morning show and the voted for Piolin.

First, the Houston sample has huge problems, which are being worked on, so I suggest you keep watching the weeklies over time. One of the problems is the total lack of proportionality by demo for language preference. The sample is so bad Arbitron increased staff and added new quality controls, including in home visits with panelists.

Piolin is not on an Atlanta station... he is on a station, a class A, that is 45 miles from Atlanta.

And in Summer he was up in as many markets as he was down... the usual thing in an established show.
 
Well, aren't we all waiting for Univision to do something bad so we can all jump at them and Mr. Gleason.
 
Please Atlanta is a huge market i was their friday and was able to pick up El piolin just fine in the metro Atlanta area... Univision is a great company and im not trying to dog on them but the truth is that piolin has droped in every market including the top markets that he is on. David is their a reason why Piolin is on a AM in the valley and not on a fm like brindis!

WLKQ does not even get a 60 dbu into Fulton, DeKalb or Cobb counties... and about 95% of diary mentions are from inside the 64 dbu signal. That station is licensed to Gwinett in Buford County, and the transmitter is North of Gwinett... and it is a Class A FM competing with two Clear Channel signals that are vastly superior... yet it still manages to get over a 1 share!

Piolin, as I mentioned, is stable based on 4 book average compared to Summer, on average, in every market. If you look at the ones using language proportionality, the numbers are very strong. Summer tends to be an erratic book (Dallas Hispanic sample was over 30% under) so it is generally discounted anyway.
