KLOS FM

Today notice some changes Adding 80's &90's That aven't been on KLOS FM Before

They even Played an Jay Z Song this morning

"Empire state of Mind" By jay Z & Alicia keys

Must have been part of a morning show bit. That could possibly show up on Yes.com.

They're not really known for playing music in the morning.

They are opening there playlist Up a Bit

Uh no, they are not adding Jay-Z. Look at their playlist again. Notice the strange songs appeared on "Mark and Brian"? Notice they're nowhere near the rest of the day (unless Jim Ladd decided to get a bit soulful)? There ya go!

Of course morning shows, usually for comedy reasons, tend to play different songs outside of the format, and for something as drastic as Jay-Z to be played on KLOS other than being apart of a skit would cause massive tune out for 95.5's regular audience.

As pointed out sometimes these morning show songs show up on Yes.com.

After listening for a short time and looking at the playlist on Yes.com I can that KLOS was playing, as The Four Tops sang (and as many used to say about KRTH during the Mike Phillips days), "The Same Old Song."

This is all unnecessary pot stirring. Cumulus has not named a new program director nor probably even had a chance to work with Buchman, the current PD, to "freshen the format" as they like to say. Bob's strategy since he got here was to increase the 80's and 90's cuts at the expense of the 60's and 70's tracks, which he has accomplished with much aplomb. it would be hard to drive the station to skew even more recent without changing the actual format of the station.

Remember when KLOS went grunge in the mid 90's, it didn't work out so well - the classic rock audience tuned out in droves, and within a few years, the Beatles were back on and Alice in Chains was off for good.

First you say that KLOS does not add songs, just re-shuffles them.. Now you credit the station with adding 80's and 90's songs with much aplomb? Which is it? All I know is that every time I have sampled KLOS in the last week, I hear the same song every day, Twilight Zone! Yea, re-shuffling is more like it. zzzzzz

Fly, you know better than this. The old tracks were dumped as soon as Buchman arrived, which is what, about three years ago? My estimate is that there are about 2000 tracks in the total library, about 700-800 of which are on the playlist at any one time.
