If KLOS were to change format, wouldn't the most likely move be to become KABC-FM (again) and simulcast (or move) KABC-AM?

Some on this board have suggested KLOS go FM Talk, similar to what KLSX was, not a simulcast of KABC. That way, they could keep Mark & Brian, which is pretty much all Talk anyway, and build from there with some of the old KLSX personalities, e.g., Leykis. They might do better than KLSX did since KLOS has a solid morning show, which KLSX lacked after Howard Stern left. Talk is pretty expensive format in this economy though. Maybe they would do it in a year or so when the economy turns around and some of the old CBS talent frees up from their current contracts.

I think you're on the right track, but Mark & Brian will not last forever. I heard that Brian just turned 50 and Mark is older than him. So who knows......

50 is not exactly at death's door for a disc jockey - especially not for a DJ on a Classic Rock station. Joe Benson and Jim Ladd must be around 60. As I remember, Ladd was on KLOS in 1971. If Brian just turned 50, he would have been 12 in 71.

Yes, that's true. 50 is not very old, but my wife listens to M&B every morning and she says that Mark has been visiting his retirement home in North Carlolina a lot in the past year and it has come up as a topic of conversation often. So maybe Mark will be the one to retire and break up the duo. Does anyone know what M&B have left on their current contract with Citadel?
