KLPN-LD Longview

KLPN-LD 47.1 is on the air in Longview with My Network TV programming, same as 51.2. Analog 58 appears to be gone. Someone in Tyler may want to check to see if KTPN-LD is on the air on 48.1.

I am curious what is going to be done with KLPN and KTPN. They already have better coverage with the 51.2 sub-channel on KFXK. At this point, 47.1 and 48.1 are redundant signals.

Once they switch over KLPN/KTPN they are now viable properties to sell to religious broadcasters.

Yeah, I would rather see them sold to someone like North Texas Public Broadcasting and used as translators of KERA. I know that NTPB has apps for a translator in Tyler, but the apps have been in place for more than a year and seemingly no progress had been made.

I've misplaced the URL I found, but the NTPB app for a translator for Ch.25 was rejected; a local LP there (the one that airs 3 Angels?) got to move to 25 from the previous channel they were on. I've not seen/heard any new action by NTPB to try again with a different channel. Hope they can get something going there, it would be a great asset to the area.

As for the subject, I've wondered too, why they're still holding onto the 2 LPs when they're subchanneling MyNet also.

Looks like the channel 25 app was dismissed on 3/26/11.

If you do a TV query on FCC.gov for Tyler, TX you will see that NTPB also has apps in place for LD's on channels 35 and 44. Both of those apps date from Nov. 2009 and the latest status is accepted for filing.

When NTPB first announced the proposed Tyler translator back in 2009, they made it clear that their first priority was getting KKXT 91.7 up and running, and that it would be several years before funding was available to proceed with Tyler.
