KLRZ/KLEB/KANE On The Air

I have made about 20 trips from Lake Jackson to Port Lavaca in the last month and once I got south of Bay City, 870am from New Orleans has come in crystal clear with no fading. I started listening even before Katrina but now it is even more interesting because they just take calls from people still in New Orleans who are not causing problems and wanting to help each other. I reccommend giving them a listen if you want to hear some good news about people helping each other instead of the sad things they keep showing on tv.

870 am is WWL

The stations he is talking about, KANE 1240 New IBeria is seperate from the webcast and is not webcast at all.

KLEB 1600 Golden Meadow is actually off the air right now

KLRZ 100.3 was off the air till Wednesday, but was on for two days with swamp pop before the talking began..but the station is actually about 30 miles SW of the city in larose,La. and didn't get the damage that was done in the city

The only reason I posted it, was to give Louisiana residents here in Houston, to be able to hear a station from the area. I listened to them. While they could not give a good as WWL, they did a good job for what they had. Some Louisiana residents here, DID have the capability to listen through laptops and other computers which they had access. My goodness, I even talked with some of these folks.

No problem ..But Yeah the station right now is basically broadcasting to the residents closest it's tower that are on the Bayous southwest of the city of New Orleans for the most part and wanted to show that it wasn't the normal fare (as well as the fact that it isn't simucast like most people think between KANE and the other 2)

But I figure it is hard to get information outside of South Louisiana (I've actually been monitoring media in and out of the area lately) that they can really get an idea on the individual neighborhoods.

The media is actually doing a real good job in actually helping the refugees hear a familiar voice from home in other cities miles and miles away.

Thanks for being one of the beacons

Also this station was supposed to be taken over by Citadel Communications any day now, So for those residents in some of the Bayou communities, luckily the offical switch hadn't taken place yet
