KLRZ owner enters State Representaive race...

With all the talk of Kaare running for New Orleans councilmen at large, this is bigger...

KLEB, KLRZ, And KANE owner Jerry "truck" Gisclair has announced and filed to run for the Louisiana State Representive 54 seat formally held by Loulan Pitre (brother of famed Cajun director Glen Pitre).

The seat serves the Central and South Lafourche areas that Truck mainly targets with his radio stations.

Question remains is, How far away Truck's gonna have to distance himself from KLEB and KLRZ till after the election (as those two serve the area he is campaigning in, KANE serves New Iberia)

He kept hinting about running for some time, but Kirt could not get him to commit about it on Talk On The Bayou. I figured on monday is when he would make it offical when Kirk said that Truck was going Thibodaux( or Baton Rouge) I hope he won't have to give up KLEB/KLRZ/ and KANE if he would win.

Just talked to Jerry and it is obvious that he has no desire to give up a couple of his stations if he wins the race. there are many broadcasters that have ran in political offices but continued to own/operate their properties.

What he has to give up is just talking on his radio stations during his official time of running. Technically he doesn't, but he would then have to give the same amount of time to his other running mates in the race or pay from his campaign as advertising time at going rate.

But from what I know about the man, he loves radio and plans to stay in it for many years. He was talking about owning his first station when I met him years ago (before he founded KLRZ)

But apparently "Truck" didn't want to toot his own horn on his stations for some reason.
