KLSD Pixel

What a hair brained idea: Have listeners buy pixels at KLSD-AM's website to "support the station." I wonder what the (fcc censored word) the sales weasels are doing at the progressive talker. http://1360klsd.com

Less is more, especially when you have a major corporation asking listeners to buy pixels for a commercial station. Pehaps that last quarter at CCU was worse than Wall $treet had it.<P ID="signature">______________

What I don't get, is why they had to make it the front page? When I first saw this a couple of days ago (I had gone their to listen to Al Franken), I thought I had gone to the wrong website, or that somebody had hacked it, until I realized that there was a link to continue to the KLSD home page. So, assuming that others will think the same thing, it sounds like a real bad idea to be messing with your page like that, never mind that it does indeed make KLSD AM look like they need every last penny.

Wow, to be a fly on the wall in that sales staff meeting: "I've got it, let's sell off individual pixels of our web page.... Hmm, this shot of Burbon is good, and it's my fifteenth glass..."

What's next for CC? Buying a second of radio wave? I'm afraid that that might come true as well.

Not the first time a Non Traditional Revenue idea has been called hair brained.

And the only non traditional part is in the presentation. There is no difference between this idea and selling :10, :30 or :60 seconds on the air.

Or, buying traditional ad space on their website. Actually, it's the exact same thing.

Hair brained? Not so much. It's nothing new. Dollars for seconds. Dollars for pixels. Just a clever spin on the same old thing.

You can say that again. When it gets to the point that a commecrial venture has to panhandle, the writing is on the wall.

Re: Pixel Back Mountain

You mean Pixelhandle?

Actually, "Cheap and Desprate" is the new morning show at Free FM.

Looks like KLSD dumped the pixel project on their website.

I hope I don't get billed or I'll let Ken Leighton put my testimony in print in the Reader. I bought space for 3,000 pixels.
