KLSX will die Friday

Just got an All Access flash in my email that says Adam Carolla's affiliates have been informed that his last show will air Friday, but "best of" shows will continue to air for a month via Westwood One. Also, Frosty, Heidi & Frank are exiting as of Friday. Tom Leykis is also reportedly getting the boot Friday as well.

This could mean there's something to the rumor that CBS will flip KLSX to a CHR format to take on KIIS.

Now if that's not stating the obvious...

Time for Bonneville to quit that joke of a format on 100.3 and go talk.

They couldn't have that content that 97.1 has... but with KFWB moving away from News and KLSX going away, now is the time to strike.

I wouldn't expect them nor would I want them to be like 97.1. I expect Bob Moore to pick up elements of KLSX at KLOS.

Bonneville needs to go up against KFI, which they should have done in the first place rather than wasting a year and a signal, and it better have an edge and be entertaining not unlike KFI or it will never work in this market. News isn't needed to be a big part of the format.

I think a hybrid works. KFWB is loaded with Sports and Informercials now so don't plan on getting a traffic report if you need one. An FM News/Talker that has traffic every 10 minutes in drive time would be a good thing for L.A.

What about Conway and Steckler?

Steckler has been gone for a few years, hasn't he?
Haven't you noticed?
(Perhaps that's why they're changing formats)

Correction, "I THINK" KLSX will die Friday

Please don't write something as a "fact" unless you actually know for sure.
I thought you had some official news about the format. You don't. Sure doesn't look good for KLSX, but that in no way confirms they are "dying" as you put it.

From an email from Don Barrett minutes ago:

(February 18, 2009) On Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. Tom Leykis passes the baton from a dozen years as the FM Talk Station, KLSX, to AMP Radio. Playing “All the Hits,” AMP RADIO will kick off a music-intensive 10,000 songs in a row from artists such as Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Rihanna, T.I., Kanye West, Usher, Britney, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, and Katy Perry.

FM Talk Radio with Adam Carolla, Frosty/Heidi & Frank, Tom Leykis, Tim Conway, Jr., and John & Jeff will be airing their last shows in the next 48 hours. Jack Silver, KLSX pd, will be leaving the station with the format change.

Thanks for posting. Sam Phillips posted the 5 o' clock time on her facebook this morning. Tom will not be saying goodbye to his audience unless he goes on the air on Friday. He is not on the air today.

Well I am listening to him a little bit this afternoon. Near the beginning of his shift, Leykis said he's on live and mentioned today's date Feb 18, 2009 FWIW.

Ahem. It's now about as official as it can get.

I accept your apology.

Well this sucks. I used to love Adam Carolla on Loveline, then he left. Last year I got a wifi radio and I was able to listen to his morning show. The morning show gave Adam more topics to rant on than Loveline did, where he could really only rant about pregnant teenagers. I will miss these "hot talk" formats, because it's nice to be able to get some talk radio that isn't overtly political in nature. I hope Adam and Tom get back on their feet. I wonder how long KCMD in Portland and WJFK in DC will last.

According to a memo posted on DCRTV.com, WJFK appears to be on its last legs, too.

As for KCMD, I bet they'll turn it into another conservative talker.
