KLSY to switch formats Monday at 12noon

KLSY will switch formats Monday at noon. The staff is being told they are all on the beach at 11am. The new station will be called "Movin 92-5" and will be a rythmic format targeted toward women 25-44. Is Sandusky finally ready to market this thing properly, or will this fail miserably too? Good luck to the outgoing staff!

What the heck are you talking about? It's active rock this week -- I was just hired last week to do nights.. my first night on air is June 1st... you're nuts!

While looking for other stations on the web that have a similar name or format (to get an idea of what the station is going to be like), I stumbled across this website which talks about the format... http://www.burnsradio.com/movin/I suspect they'll do some kind of stunting between 11am (staff gets fired) and noon (new station starts). If i'm not busy, i'll start recording about 10am...

Are they really switching formats? and what are they flipping to? , I don't know who to belive

Well I was hired last week for a night gig for a rock station... I sure hope they're going rock.. or I am screwed....

Interesting. I wonder who will do the mornings. Robin & Maynard. I hope.

I find it hard to belive that it will be rock, seattle dosent need another rock station

From what I understand it's leaning more in a alternative type direction...

Re: KLSY to switch formats

I believe in the 'switching formats' part for 92.5..I DON'T believe it'll happen Monday or anytime soon though...

I can't believe they would be flipping in the middle of the Spring Book, unless they got a peek at the Arbs and got real scared. But it sounds like a great move for them. KPLZ should be shaking in their boots if this is true, as I have grown to hate KPLZ, though I'm not female, 48, and a soccer mom.

yeah if they whould be going to flip then they whouldint still be doing the 80's weekend

I'm sure you guys have been through format changes before... doesn't a station run 'as normal' until it flips? The 80s weekend is jockless anyways so I'm sure it's on autopilot...

Do they normally have jocks on the 80's weekend?

KLSY may not have been live but they did have jock presence on 80's weekends before they dropped all the 80's titles about a year ago. That being said, they brought back 80's and have been doing all 80's weekends for a few weeks now, and at first I didn't hear any jocks during the day on weekends (like there was before) when I listened. Having not been paying to much attention to the MIX lately, I tuned in tonight, it's Sunday morning at 2:48am and there is a jock, Tony (?Austin) on air (could be VT'd) but Tony is pre selling songs occasionally... and did a weather report a few minutes ago and it's the middle of the night.

Ah yes, and the speculation runs rampant. Let me clarify for you what exactly is happening over there at Sandusky. If anyone recalls the company before consolidation, you will recall that they owned a lot more male oriented rock stations in various markets than female oriented stations. In fact, in the only other market where they remain owners besides Seattle, Phoenix, they have a whole stable of nothing but rock stations. Mark Kay is smart enough to realize that it puts him in a position of strengh to call on the company's long standing experience. On Wednesday afternoon at 5PM KLSY will become KSRK and will pursue an Active Rock position somewhere between KISW and The End. Anyone there will tell you that Andy Savage has been seen in the building in the last couple of weeks. The reason being that he will be taking over morning show duties. Apparently they have hired someone from one of their Phoenix stations to do afternoons. Other than AM Drive and PM drive, they will run jockless for the time being. The call letters and domain names have already been requested. They will call it Rock 92-5!There is a reason that the Active Rock rumor has been running so rampant for the last few weeks...it's true.
