KLTD 101.7 The Ticket Temple TX to flip formats

The new format, for real, debuted Monday...70s based classic hits..."K101.7 - Central Texas' Greatest Hits."

Noticed this morning when I could not pick up the morning Fox Sports show. They sure did not advertise the sport format all that much, I found it by mistake. No more Jim Rome in the Central and South Texas.

Doesn't 95.7FM out of Waco share the same format?

Yes. For several years, KBGO (95.7) out of Waco has had decent ratings in the Killeen-Temple market. In fact, much better ratings than KLTD despite KBGO having a very marginal signal in Bell County.

Flipping KLTD to Classic Hits was a no-brainer for the current ownership/management.

The previous ownership/management, on the otherhand, was brain-dead for not doing this years ago, when they decided to go Sports.

Did I hear James Harrison this morning on K101.7? I thought he was on KTEM 1400 AM? He used to be a radio back in the 90s called Q or B 106 out of Temple with roughly the same format as K101.7

Yep. I beleive he also worked at KOOV back in the day, as well...back when KOOV was Country at 103.1. It's my understanding that he's been on the sales in that building for years.

Now, I hope Townsquare brings their more current intensive "Blake FM" country format to US105. KUSJ is, IMHO, too gold and recurrent heavy. I would think Townsquare's current focused, Blake FM format that they've rolled out in Amarillo, Wichita Falls, & Lubbbock would work well in the Temple-Killeen market. The market is full of younger military families that would listen to a younger, CHR type style country format. Let Waco 100 and Shooter FM have the older audience and take 105.5 in a hotter country direction.

Also, I'd like to see them morph B106 KOOC into more of a mainstream CHR instead of rhythmic/hip hop. (they've already moved in that direction).
