How can a translator be legally operating at 2,000 watts, and what is the connection to the Univision Radio engineer? Yet another quality escape?

Great questions. It's gotta be the translator, unless there is magically some other 92.5 transmitter connected to the same cable modem that serves the K287BQ stream.

Seems you're right. I would make it non-listenable outside of the Barix itself... I know of stations that were taken over before because the Barix feeds were given out in public and had weak source passwords.

Nothing. I was simply making a joke about Univision hiring the overpowered translator's engineer to fix KLTN's audio.

This is the stream published on “Power FM”’s website, pretty silly that they are hosting it on the cable modem at the transmitter site rather than using a proper stream hosting company.
 
Maybe they're using just a Raspberry Pi, now that would be funny.

Thanks for supporting my slams about over-attention to tiny translators here, because endless comments on micro-signals are seriously boring, since their coverage is so limited as to be useless noise in the radio universe.

Problem is, they are not “micro-signals” and “tiny translators“ as many are almost certainly operating with greatly excessive power and not using authorized directional patterns, or they lack an originating station. That’s why they get so much attention on this board—most of the discussion is about unauthorized operation, and not the actual programming or formats.

Valid points. The issue is simple: When will the FCC step in and analyze, inspect and demand compliance? Or, simply, revoke licenses.

The low quality audio issue seems to be fixed.

Are you suggesting that Marty outsourced the work? Because even if he did, i still think it was a job well done all around. Marty is a good engineer. There's a reason why he's been at Univision for so long. He does extremely well with what he has to work with.

It's "quite possible" that the processor at KLTN suffered "fatal" damage such as, theoretically, a lightning strike might have caused. That requires either buying a replacement when it was found that the unit was beyond repair or taking the steps to employ computer driven processing. Both, in today's "you'll have to wait" environment, take time.

Have you noticed the increase in station filings for long reduced power or silent facility with the FCC? That is because many items are not stocked and have to be made or ordered, often from overseas. Remember, most components in electronic gear are not made in the US any more.
