Alternative Rock has been a hard to sell market these days. Plus KTFM, and KXXM are attacking the Beat while KTKX is going after KZEP. If I were (Univision) to take away ratings from another station to protect my biggest revenue pulling station KBBT I would flip one of my sister stations to protect it's standing. KLTO is Univisons "dump" station while Cox's "dump" station is 106.7. As you see 106.7 constantly flips over the other Cox stations, when was the last time Magic, KONO, or KCYY changed formats, it was the 80s for KONO-FM, and KCYY, and the mid 90s for Magic. I see the logic regarding this format change. As for Alternative expect it to be on HD radio and not Analog Radio. Unless Pearson Broadcasting decides to pull the plug on KAHL 103.7/1310. If alternative rock was doing well they would pull Electronic Dance Music show Hypersonic off of 101x in Austin and play alternative rock during those hours.

I heard the Forget You song and if memory serves correct, I don't think I've ever heard that one on 96 or 94 before. I also heard a dance version of the Rocketeer song that sounded pretty bad ass. I'll definitely add these guys to my preset to keep hearing them out. It's too bad they have a weak signal cause I think they could actually do some damage to the other top 40 stations, being no talk and not many commercials and from what it seems so far, a little more variety like a true top 40 should have. So is this the new HD format on 98.5-2 then? Or is it still the active rock? How does it work?

Actually 96.9 would be a better signal than 102.3, plus they want to go against KXXM 96.1wild949austin said:willdav713 said:What are the ratings of KISS versus KXXM averaged over a period of 2 years? I wish there was an all-electronic/dance radio station around here. The only one I can think of, in all of America, is 94.5 The Vibe in Las Vegas.
As for alternative in SA, I found out that if you have an HD Radio, All alternative rock plays on KZEP's HD 2 channel.
Finally.... I am listening to the new Party 97.7 (DXing it from S Austin), and it sounds good. If Univision wants this station to be successful, maybe they can build a new, or purchase an existing, translator in San Antonio Proper and broadcast Party 97.7 (i.e. 102.3 FM, 105.9 FM)
