KLTO

I still cant see how in the world KLTO got so close to KBXX, that should of never happened! I tried to write a letter to the FCC about that, but that is just like writing in thin air! I use to could get KBXX great, even with car radios, not much static, now with KLTO in I cant even pick KBXX up with my home stereo. How many miles appart can a station move in with aprove by the FCC? I hate this now. On some of my radios I half to set to 98.0 to be able to pick up KBXX. Maybe if I can get a new HD Radio that might clear up KLTO's stuff.

That's plenty of spacing between the stations.
Remember, DXing is a hobby, not the norm for the public.

So the Fringe areas mean nothing any more? I am about 84 miles from Houston's transmitters, but I could still get a clear signal even with a wired antenna, my truck picks up Houston good, KLTO should of been moved more west in my view.

We've covered this before. The plan was to move KLTO a lot further west, all the way to the Tower of the Americas in San Antonio, but that whole convoluted re-allocation project has been dead in the water for quite some time. There's plenty of room between KLTO and KBXX as it is now, and no, fringe areas don't mean a thing. The fact that you and I can hear Houston stations for long distances is more of a privilege than a right. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

What do you mean anymore? The fringe areas never meant anything to begin with in the FCC's eyes, unless, maybe, you count AM skywave. The fringe areas have never really been protected, and they've never been areas that the stations can consistently hit.

So if the fringe areas dont mean anything, why didnt they just move KLTO to one of the Austin frequency to the tower of america, like 98.1, or 100.7, 101.5 94.7, so on.... that would of made more ideal then.
