Can any cable system not able to receive KLTV-TV at this time be legally allowed to carry ABC from another market during Super Bowl XL itself?

Oh yes, there are cable systems that still carry WFAA in addition to KLTV. (They switch to something else while WFAA is carrying shows like Oprah and ABC primetime programming so they wouldn't compete with KLTV)

Well...I look at it this way....

At least the video that KLTV is showing will give an example as to what TV stations across America CAN do with 24/7 video online WITHOUT getting sued.

Hopefully somthing positive will come out of this that will benefit ALL TV broadcasters.

Small comfort I know, but just my opinion :)

Cheers :)

KLTV Tower collapse causes more headaches for KVNE

The collapse of KLTV’s tower is a double whammy for KVNE. They had already suffered irreparable antenna damage when the remains of hurricane Katrina rolled through. Now they’ll have to get a second new antenna. That has to be costly for a non-comm station

Back in the late 1980s, the ABC affiliate in Waco (KXXV UHF 25) was having major transmitter problems. They were scheduled to show the Super Bowl but the transmitter was up and down. They made a deal with the nearby NBC affiliate to air the Super Bowl if KXXV went off the air. The ABC affiliate sent a 3/4" tape of their commercials over to KCEN and the chief engineer tuned in ABC on the satellite dish (KCEN had been an ABC affiliate for a short time and the rx and dish for ABC was still in place). KCEN was on stand by to dump out of whatever programming was on and go to the Super Bowl if the call came. It didn't, and KXXV managed to stay on the air for the game. Of course, this was way before the day of direct feeds to cable head-ends.
