KLUC taking backstrides???

Ok, I've noticed KLUC playing Kelly Clarkson a lot these past few days, but doesn't that take back their "all new" rhythmic approach that that they walked into last summer? I thought they were trying to move away from the chr type stuff, and be 100% hip/hop and R&B. Not that I'm complaining because I think we need more CHR in this market, I just find it odd. Now, the only new thing is their logo, and why are they still "all new" a year later? Don't get me wrong, I like the station, I just don't understand whats going on over there. And, if the idea behind this change last summer was to boost ratings, I don't think they succeeded.

"new"??? Who is gonna believe that's its a "new 98.5, KLUC" if all most of the shows on air still have the same old names??

KLUC is dead and they need to switch formats. I really dont think that Infinity would let them flip because of their billing, but it's worth a discussion. They should go Country (Big Country 98-5) or Alternative (98.5 The Edge). KVEG has taken over and they sound hipper than KLUC. I think KLUC sounds outdated and the jocks on there are trying too hard because they're so old.

> KLUC...dead? Not hardly? Have you seen a Miller-Kaplan? The station is making $$$...and thats what counts! 12+ means nothing. Look at the big picture....women numbers are still strong, and with Jack about to hurt Mix...it leaves KLUC as Infnity's top biller...period!(Shall we even mention Xtreme without Howard?) In January 2006, KLUC will sign Cat Thomas to another 5 year contract...bet on it!

There are two stations now playing Kelly Clarkson that I never would have expected to. The funny thing is the two stations could not be more different from each other...KLUC and KJUL (during Tesh).

that won't change the fact that they still suck!!!

>>>that won't change the fact that they still suck!!!

So TRUE! KLUC needs more than just a format change! Change the whole staff and start with Cat (Rob) Thomas! Then they need to get rid of Marty Bash and Tom Humm! No so hip for Hip Hop and too "Old" to for Top 40!

>>>KLUC...dead? Not hardly? Have you seen Miller-Kaplan?

Who CARES!

>>>The station is making $$$...and thats what counts! 12+ means nothing. Look at the big picture....women numbers are still strong, and with Jack about to hurt Mix...it leaves KLUC as Infnity's top biller...period!(Shall we even mention Xtreme without Howard?)

1) Jack has no edge on Mix! They were good for the first 2 months but now they are well, getting boring! No jocks on the air is hurting them. No morning show, No giveaway's, No Nothing makes a nothing station to us the listener. I like to hear the jock banter about nonsence. Sometimes it makes my drive home smoother when I hear the jock banter with someone on the air. I feel like I'm a part of the show when I can call in and talk to the Dj and even sometimes get on the air. 2) X1075 losing Howard is no big loss! Xtreme will come up with something for those angry teens they have as listeners.

>>>In January 2006, KLUC will sign Cat Thomas to another 5 year contract...bet on it!

As I said above, He needs to GO! Cat (Rob) Thomas is hurting the station by continuing to be the PD. I understand he ran Mix and Lite 100 at the sametime he was PD of KLUC. He tanked Lite and Mix and addmitted he was a failer. Its time for Cat to get out of Hip Hop/CHR and move on to soft hits. He's too old to be running a station targeting such a young demo!

> KLUC has a 4 share now and is making money. What do they change to? Who do they hire? I would be interested in your opinion. Thanks.
Xtreme has an audience after 10am? Where?
In our minds, as radio people, we get tired of things FAST! When you work at a radio station, and get tired of a record, it's usually your P1's favorite!(While I agree Jack is a "flash in the pan") Just because we are tired of it, doesn't mean the audience is.(Gotta give Kudos to KSNE P.D. Tom Chase for the TV and newspaper---Lite 100 Abandons their listeners...If KJUL doesn't go AC, Sunny may have a 10 share when the fall book comes back.
To me, KQOL should sound like KOOL in Phoenix or at least when KQOL was at 105.5...I hate the doo wop crap, and I don't wanna hear Blondie either...
Is everyone gonna let CC walk away with the pie....You've got KWNR and now KSNE all by themselves....come on now!
As for Cat running Mix and Lite...Lite was never marketed at all, Duncan Payton already killed that station....As for Mix, they had Kiss to deal with...the minute Kiss went bye bye, they all switched to Mix, Just like when KWID switched from urban, they all went to Hot.

Kade and Tom Mitchell at Mix 94.1 both came from 101.9 KISS FM after they went off the air. As for KVEG 97.5, they have Bobby Loco formerly from Wild 102.

I listen to Mix and I need to say, Tom never said he came from Kiss. He say's he moved here directly from Louisiana. Kade on the other hand. I have herd him say he once worked at Kiss. he should've stayed with kiss, OUT OF THE BIZ! The guy is less entertaining than a Monk telling a jock. I dont know who is in charge there but, they need to freshen up things. Change a few things around like the sweepers. How much laimer do they need to be. Using callers on the phone to say artist names. A little more professionalism needed in the imaging department. Why dont they get real listeners from remotes and record their voices on a digital recorder. QUALITY, THATS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT! Another reason why mix will fail this rating period. By the way, who is the PD and MD at mix?

certainly not you, Eric Roberts :)
