Kluv and The Eagles "Life in the fast lane"

One time I bought a rap cassette at Wal Mart. It sounded like an episode of the Road Runner with all those beeps. They wouldn't sell unedited raps.

Meanwhile, at the same store I could buy any R-rated movie I wanted - with boobs & bad words aplenty. Still trying to figure out the logic of that.

As a DJ back in the 70s, I remember the radio mix of Pink Floyd's "Money" had the word "bullshit" sung as an overextended "buuuuulllll". From the lines:

Money, it's a hit.
Don't give me that
Do goody good bullshit.

I also worked at the old WCUM in Cumberland, MD, where we played Elton John's "The Bitch is Back". Elton is screaming, "I'm a bitch, I'm a bitch, oh the bitch is back." But we were not permitted to announce the title, or had to change it to say "The Witch is Back". hahaha

Something tells me you might need to edit out those call letters if you were working there today! ::)

Another song comes to mind - Radiohead's Creep. The line

You're so f***ing special

is often changed to

You're so very special.

I heard the first version unedited on KLBJ-FM in Austin years ago driving home on vacation. For some time after that the kids would sing along with the radio, using the unedited lyrics. Good times.

Whenever Cee Lo comes on the radio, we make sure to sing the uncensored lyrics. I agree with Rolling Stone on this one - "if you have a problem with "goddamn" in your lyrics, you probably shouldn't be listening to rock radio in the first place. There's a ton of blasphemous content like sex, drugs and whatever else all over the lyrics of those classic rock songs."
