KLUV Sales Rep Positions

I heard a spot on KLUV yesterday evening with Jody Dean's voice encouraging Sales people with a proven track record to apply for Sales Rep positions with KLUV.

It makes me wonder if some of the KLUV Sales Reps abandoned ship after Chapman left?

i wouldn't be surprised since they can't charge the "chapman premium" any more....they're advertising for a new gsm in the trades....

the routine there is to bring in AE's on a short-term draw, cast them to the wolves thereafter, divvy out anything good they find to the more experieced AE's, then fire the newbie after 6 to 9 months for not making their quota. least that's how David Henry ran things. no support, no resting on one's laurels ('yeah, so what, what have you done TODAY?') and a revolving door of people who "thought" they were starting a career there.

Um... no. Its so funny, people here are some of the most misinformed. You guys hear about things way after the fact and 80% of the times speculations are wrong. I think most people here are from the programming side... which explains why so many people are out of the loop on whats logical and what really goes on.

That is hysterical! Logic in sales??? Talk about out of the loop! Oh well if you wanted to get a reaction, you'll get them, but as far as knowing what's going on petaining to radio, chart a plane to Fantasy Island. You qualify as the pilot.

That's funny because as I was writing this, I was thinking of you. You are probably one of the most misinformed person in here as far as I know. I say this because some of the things I have seen you talk about and speculate on was so stupid, I actually started an account just so I can start refuting you. But then again, you do post a lot so that could be why I see a lot of misinformation from you.

Yes, I think people in programming are geeks who get so lost in their own worlds that they forget their little roles are easily replacable and completely petty.

You misspelled your handle...should be "I Am PURDY". I know of 5 people personally who got the treatment I mentioned in the original post, all under the Henry Regime. It'd be nice to think things have changed with David Henry out of sales now, but I doubt it. One of those persons somehow made it past the 6 to 9 month threshold and got axed unceremoniously and without warning after 6 years. Now all these were out of the KVIL 'stable' and not KLUV, but I'd guess the same treatment is dealt across the board.

Ha...I'm not from sales OR programming, and with those kinds of ethics out there, I surely won't be seeking a sales position with YOUR company. Suffice it to say that anyone in radio sales today, be it with Infinity or Clear Channel or otherwise, has a very short shelf life. If you can't bring in the big bucks for the company after a short trial period, you're out. And there's plenty more waiting in the wings for your job, and no one really cares about your "track record" or your Rolodex or your list of "home runs" of yesteryear if you aren't making some serious kills TODAY. Just ask anyone that's been in radio sales more than 2 years, and they'll tell you they've already worked for every corporate cluster in town, hoping that this latest one will be "it." Spin the negativity if you like, but this, purdy one, is the reality.

DH, among other roles, is currently the Director of Sales over KLUV. Not sure what you mean by your post, but I wouldn't call that "out of sales," but perhaps misinformed.

OK, I'm seeing a problem here. I know I can't follow the scorecard with all the little daily management movements, co-titles, additional duties, etc. Like one day, Kurt's demoted and stripped of KVIL and KLUV. Next day, he's the golden boy with a promotion to JACK-of-all-trades for the whole corporation. Brinkman's got a title one day, no, wait, now he doesn't, but he's staying on the air. Purdy and Ongaro are at Clear Channel, gunning for Infinity...no, wait, now they're both at Infinity, gunning for Clear Channel. And Henry? Isn't he the local V-P of something now? Tell ya what, if you or someone else is aware of everyone's little everchanging job title over there, PLEASE make a little organizational chart and post it on here!! Seriously!!

Seriously, don't you have a traffic report coming up?

OK, who told the sales weasel where the Radio board was? You people aren't in RADIO, you're in SALES. If it wasn't air time, you'd be selling cemetery plots or aluminum siding. Geez. You leave the screen door open and all kinds of vermin crawl in.
