KLVI BEAUMONT OFF AIR

Maybe they were getting the transmitter ready for Don Imus' debut in December.

Imus wont be on KLVI....he will be on former ABC O&Os (now owned by Citadel)..I think the closest one he will be on is 820 WBAP in Dallas.....

Probably lightning popped it off.......or the generator didnt start if the lights went out.

I think the I-man would be a great replacement for Caldwell. Al should be retired by now.

Jack Piper who does the aftenoon show on KLVI told me over lunch one day, he (Jack) will probably retire before Al...He feels, and so do I, they will probably find Caldwell dead in the control room with his hand gripping the mic one day....because he LOVES the job and will never quit (hell at least Gordon Baxter finally retired! ;)

But, KLVI is owned by Clear Channel, so anything is possible, even clearing house if they want to do so.

CW, tell Jack I said hello. I worked with him when he was news director at KNUZ/KQUE in the mid 1970s.

Will do Chuck...I worked for Dave himself when he owned KAYC and KAYD back in the 70s....got the tour of 1230 and 102.9 studios south of 59 while driving back from parts hunting at City Electronics...Dave Morris himself took around and introduced me...at age 19, I was glass eyed and star strucked....wanted to work in Houston soo bad, then ;)

Jack will probably retire in a year or two...he hinted at that over dinner...I think he is ready for some travel and golf.
