KLWB-FM launching "Snap 103-7" next Thursday

They are up and running as of this morning. The signal made it to Jennings before washing out on my way to Houston this morning. They have a very wide variety in the playlist but some of the material sounds like low bitrate mp3 files.

On a related note their sister TV Channel KLWB 50 will lose its CW network affiliation to KATC (As a .2 digital sub-channel) the second week of June.

Yep... noticed they were on this afternoon. Listened to them on the way to BR. Signal was pretty good... listenable up until just past Grosse Tete, right before a CSN network translator starts to interfere.

As for the TV side, I imagine they'll end up moving This TV from 50.2 over to the main channel.

This sucks ass since I got my Sirius signal from 103.9. I tried other "open" signals but I get bleed-over from other stations. Example: 92.1 gets a bleed over signal from Planet Radio 96.5. WTF????

Snap 103.7 is loud and clear up in Ville Platte on the home stereo with a dipole (wire) antenna.

Edit: I haven't heard a TOH legal ID in the past 3 hours...

I drove through Opelousas last night and KOCZ-LP is still on the air!!! I heard their audio with SNAP1037 displayed on the RDS!! As I drove towards the outskirts, the signals blended and didn't get a clear signal on SNAP until Plaisance as I was driving back to Ville Platte.

What's with the format? It's obviously classic hits, but seems to be, shall I say, more "adult-contemporary" than 102.1 or 107.1. And why classic hits instead of, say, classic rock (which is what the Independent reported) when there are already two established players playing classic hits?

My synopsis of Lafayette's CLassic hit trio:

102.1 Classic Hits Lite: No AC/DC or Guns n Roses Here, and yes we play to much Disco

103.7 Classic Hits Jack Style: Hard, Soft, Old and even 'DC Talk' and 'Stone Temple Pilots' occasionaly. We Play Whatever!

107.1 Classic Hits By The Book: A perfect ratio of classic rock, classic R&B, 80s pop hits. If it wasnt a top 10 Hit, we dont play it.

I believe KOCZ-LP is at a different frequency.....where I don't know ...

KOCZ-LP 225 L1 FL 92.9 MHz APP OPELOUSAS LA US BPL-20100621ACA - 123513 0.072 kW 35.4 m SOUTHERN DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION FIELD OFFICE

Looks like they are trying to move to 92.9. Might not be a bad choice. KHLA-92.9 Jennings is the closest co-channel station and it's a good distance away. KQID on 93.1 may cause some minor issues.

KOCZ is broadcasting on 107.7. However, there's not an app for that.
