David Fowler did a show with Jim Tate on KULF in the early 70s called the Tate and Fowler Show, competing with Hudson and Harrington on KLIF. Jim Tate is the one who went to KTRH with a talk show after leaving KULF. (He's too passed on.) At that time, Hal Eisner was the evening news guy and I was the all-night news guy as John Parker. Fowler was usually always late arriving for the 5am newscast so I had to do it and frequently the 6am one too. (David, it seems, was an all-night party guy.) (I liked it when he was late 'cause I got morning drive exposure and got to banter on air with Jim Tate.) George Thomas, Dan Ammerman, Robert Knowlton, Joe Bauer were also there at the time. Bill Bosse (an appropriate name) was our great boss. Format was MOR music with a little rock 'n roll. And we had a 24-hour news department! The old Central Bank building that housed KULF has just been bought and as I write it is being refurbished.
