KMAJ-AM

Are they having technical issues? I see two STAs on the FCC site, second one is an extension. The signal quality has dropped off like they're running 100 watts or something.

It appears that they filed for an STA a year ago due to a grass fire damaging one of the ATU's. Still not fixed and refiled for another STA.

Sounds like they got it partially fixed, the signal is a little bit better these days. You'd think being owned by Cumulus means they could afford a measley ATU box quickly.

Since AM Directionals are not being built today in large numbers like they once were, maybe it is hard to find someone who knows HOW to build/install an ATU box, and when you find that someone he may have a waiting list.

The management at KMAJ knows they can call Tom Toenjes at Signal Specialists up in
St. Marys, KS. The guy's a directional genius - definitely in the top-ten nationwide.

So I think it's gotta be a money issue. Tom's less than an hour away, and could build
an ATU at the tower base in no time at all.

Storm Cloud sometimes has bad luck with their facilities. They had the entire Macon GA cluster off the air due to faulty building wiring.
