Has anyone noticed that KMAK 100.3 seems to being using more power ??

Just curious, how are you determining they're using more power?

I dont think they increased their power, i think switching from stereo mode to mono gives that appearance plus Tropo conditions have been strong lately.

I'm sure it's nothing but summer propagation effects. KMAK's owner, I don't think, is going to risk a heavy fine by going over his authorized power.MisterGort said:The signal level is alot stronger in the Hanford - Lemoore area as well as Visalia - Tulare. Sure looks like that KMAK has increased the ERP. Not just that they are in momo. Also heard that the LMA was not willing to pay back lease payments until the signal was increased.

Yep. When I was responsible for 98.3 in the San Gabriel Valley in the LA market, the previous owner had moved it way up on a "sub peak" on the San Gabriel mountains at well under 1 kw. The station had a bad signal everywhere, but to management the 55 dbu in northern Orange County fooled them. But no signal density. Those low power high antennas yield great distances, but little to no building penetration. Great for radio nerds, but not the average listener aside from listening into the car.
