KMBV/Navasota sold to KSBJ.

KMBV/Navasota 92.5 FM has been sold to KSBJ Educational Foundation for $1.03 mil. 92.5's last known format was "Lonestar" simulcasting with KLTR/Caldwell, but has been silent recently. http://www.radioandrecords.com/RRWebSite/

What day did they go silent? When will KSBJ take over? Any word on the 3 stations in Victoria that are Silent?

It's kind of amusing to me how KSBJ usually (seemingly) begs for money "only your donations keep us on the air, etc."... yet they can drop $1.03 mil on another not even worth it) signal.

It's Kinda hard to tell you the day it went off the air. For shure, it was off the air since last year. If my memory serves right, it went off the air around September- August.

When will KSBJ startup? I wonder if KMBV went silent after KULF did?

I wish someone will buy out KULF and make it a classic country station or something other than dark.

Henderson's 96.1 in Edna..former KEZB..was sold to the guys who own KULP-AM in El Campo.

Does he still own 94.1 which is still Silent?

I think thats true jras20 --best as I can tell none of Henderson's stations in the Victoria area are being sold except for 96.1..but who knows what will happen in the future since so many of them are silent like 96.1 was.

jras, KJAZ/Point Comfort (94.1) was still off the air last time I was down that way. A shame really, because like my little town it is the only service licensed to Point Comfort. That's great news that KIOX/Edna (that's going to take some getting used to KIOX not being licensed to El Campo.) was sold to the KULP folks. Hopefully some glory can be restored to the heritage calls for Wharton and Victoria counties.

Looks like KULF is working a move in to Houston with Henderson putting it up for sale to a un-named Houston radio group. KULF has tried numerous times (with different signs and positioning statements) to un seat KIXS from its high top country position and it just never worked. So the Houston move could work. Cumulus made it work from Beaumont to Houston. Sort of.

I dont see them changing to 94.9 unless KVIC moves to 104.7.

I'm not sure that would work. To move KVIC to 104.7 would require VRW to purchase KULF and they can't unless they spin out another FM or AM.

They probably took out a loan for the sale amount, so the actual cash they're initially spending is only a fraction of that.

Also gives them better coverage along the Highway 6 corridor between Hempstead and B/CS, which is only going to grow in the future. Also possibility of a modest upgrade.

Not to mention that, when you look at how much EMF spends on stations, KSBJ looks pretty thrifty dropping only $1.03 million on KMBV!
